Pioneer Power Enters $2.4 Billion Residential Power and EV Charging Market with PowerCore
Pioneer Power Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PPSI) announced the launch of PowerCore, its first residential platform, built to address the growing demand for reliable home power and fast EV charging. The platform draws on Pioneer's decades of experience in industrial power generation and its work developing high-capacity, power-dense, mobile e-Boost charging solutions.
PowerCore combines prime power generation with either a high-capacity Level 2 or Level 3 EV charger, giving homeowners the flexibility to use onsite generation or utility power, whichever is more economical. Advanced intelligent power switching enables a true island mode, keeping a home fully operational and an EV charged during extreme weather events or natural disasters.
The product is available in two configurations. The L2 version includes a 30 kW natural gas EPA prime power generator, an automatic transfer switch, a Level 2 48A charger with mobile app control, and load balancers to help prioritize power needs throughout the home. The L3 version includes a 45 kW, 480V, 3-phase natural gas EPA prime power generator paired with a 30 kW Level 3 high-speed EV charger, a transformer for single-phase home power, an automatic transfer switch, load balancers, and mobile app control. Both versions ship complete on a recyclable composite pallet for straightforward contractor installation.
"We are responding to what we see as strong consumer demand for sustained residential power offering flexibility, combining prime power that integrates fast and affordable EV charging right at home, even when the grid is not available," commented Geo Murickan, head of Pioneer eMobility. "We believe PowerCore offers homeowners a feeling of security in knowing that prime power and EV charging will be there for them at times of need, especially during and after natural disasters, when it's most critically needed."
"Our entry into the large and growing residential multi-billion-dollar home power generation market is both strategic and organic," stated Nathan Mazurek, CEO of Pioneer Power. "Pioneer will market its PowerCore solution through select electrical distributors and generator dealers, making the product available and simple for electrical contractors to access and install."
PowerCore will be sold into the North American home standby generator market, which was valued at $1.9 billion in 2021 and is projected to continue growing through 2032, with natural gas as the leading fuel type.
